Clear Ballot chose leading U.S. manufacturer Calzone & Anvil Case Company to create custom-made cases to protect the equipment that will ensure accurate election results.
BOSTON, MA – Boston-based election technology company Clear Ballot has partnered with Bridgeport, Connecticut-based Calzone & Anvil Case Company to create custom made transport cases for their newest generation of voting equipment, which were used for the first time in a Presidential election this November.
Clear Ballot contracted with Calzone & Anvil Case Company in 2022 to begin producing the new cases, selecting the company due to their experience creating custom shipping cases for space shuttle parts, musician’s pro audio equipment, military defense weapons and endoscopy monitoring devices. The durable nature of the cases, combined with their ease of transport, ensures that the state-of-the-art precinct scanners and ballot marking devices election officials rely on arrive in perfect working order.
The shipping cases are custom designed by Calzone & Anvil Case Company specifically for each piece of Clear Ballot’s system. The cases are engineered to meet the rigorous burdens of election equipment transportation while allowing for easy transport and set up. The cases are designed to resist vibration, shock, impact, climate fluctuations, and unauthorized access. To help prevent any disruption to the integrity of the voting process, Calzone & Anvil created the Clear Ballot cases using the same high-quality standards it employed in manufacturing the cases that are used to transport Fender Custom Shop Artist series guitars and electrostatic-sensitive antenna components from NASA/NOAA labs for use in “hurricane hunter” aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.
“Clear Ballot chose Calzone & Anvil Case Company because their reputation for manufacturing highly durable and reliable shipping solutions aligns with our commitment to ensure election integrity at every step of the voting process - including transport,” said Clear Ballot CEO Bob Hoyt. “Every step we take toward securing the voting process strengthens public confidence in our democratic system, and ensuring safe ballot transportation is a vital part of that commitment.”
Calzone & Anvil manufactured the cases for Clear Ballot in its three U.S. plants located in Bridgeport, Connecticut; Carrollton, Texas; and Covina, California.
“Election security is one of the pillars of a functioning democracy, and we are proud to support Clear Ballot’s mission to uphold it,” said Joe Calzone, president and CEO of Calzone & Anvil Case Company. “We designed and built our Clear Ballot cases to withstand the toughest conditions, ensuring voting equipment and ballots remain safe and secure from the moment they are packed until they reach their destinations throughout the country,” Calzone said. “With more than 3,000 Clear Ballot voting systems protected in Calzone cases in the Cleveland area alone, we’re honored to play a role in safeguarding the journey of every vote.”
With their combined expertise, Clear Ballot and Calzone & Anvil Case Company are proud to have introduced new methods of protecting election integrity, thinking outside of the box on how to help election officials protect their equipment. Their commitment to innovation and security is an example of the proactive measures being taken by U.S. companies to protect voters’ voices across the nation this year.
