BOSTON, MA -- The Virginia Department of Elections has unanimously certified ClearVote 2.4, a new state-of-the-art voting system, for use in Virginia. ClearVote is election technology company Clear Ballot’s first full voting system released in Virginia, featuring full-faced paper ballots and enhanced security and transparency features.

“We are very excited to introduce our technology and expertise to Virginia. As ClearVote 2.4 is our first system to be certified in the state, we look forward to building connections and trust as we begin working with counties as their in-person voting system partner,” said Clear Ballot CEO Bob Hoyt. “We believe ClearVote 2.4 to be the most modern, accessible, and user-friendly voting system on the market today, and we’re proud to bring this new technology here to Virginia.”

Clear Ballot’s goal is to foster continuous innovation while staying true to its mission of tabulating voter-verifiable paper ballots. The ClearVote system includes ClearCast Go, a cutting-edge precinct tabulator that contains an intuitive user interface for voters and a durable case designed to transport equipment safely and securely. ClearCast Go offers a quick, easy poll setup and breakdown, saving poll workers valuable time on Election Day.

The system also includes ClearMark, Clear Ballot’s ADA-compliant accessible ballot marking device, and ClearCount, a tabulation and reporting system that brings unparalleled transparency to elections through its patented vote visualization technology. All of Clear Ballot’s equipment is manufactured in Nashua, New Hampshire.

With Clear Ballot’s commitment to empowering voters of all abilities to cast their ballots privately and independently, ClearMark was usability tested at the world-renowned Perkins School for the Blind and prints full-faced, undifferentiated paper ballots to ensure voter anonymity.

“While our partnership with Virginia is just beginning, we aspire to support election officials across the Old Dominion State as they run secure, accurate elections for many years to come,” said CEO Bob Hoyt.
